On 27th June SAME DEUTZ-FAHR organised an open day for major Croatian authorities to visit its combine manufacturing plant in Zupanja. Those attending included the President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipović, the Minister of Agriculture Tihomir Jakovina, the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Crafts Gordan Maras and the Italian Ambassador of the Republic of Italy Emanuela D’Alessandro.
Welcoming the guests were SAME DEUTZ-FAHR’S President Vittorio Carozza, Vice-President Francesco Carozza, Chief Executive Officer Lodovico Bussolati and Group Communication Manager Ruggero Cavatorta, together with the SAME DEUTZ-FAHR Žetelice CEO Mario Scapin and the East Europe Sales Director Vlado Matijašić.
Acquired by SAME DEUTZ-FAHR Group in 2005, SAME DEUTZ-FAHR Žetelice has been later restored and modernised with an overall investment that today amounts to €30 million and an increase in the number of employees from 136 to 340.
The extensive modernisation of Žetelice has been carried out over the last six years and has resulted in an increased turnover- from €6.1 million to €44.5 million for 2012 (estimated). During the same period, combine production has increased from 102 to 350 units/year, most of which are exported in Europe.
“Building DEUTZ-FAHR combines in Croatia has been an important strategic decision.” says President Vittorio Carozza. “It was taken after intensive evaluations that convinced us that this country has the necessary competence, the optimal supports and the favourable conditions to construct such a complex product.”
Combines represent a concentration of advanced technologies which demand expertise and intense attention on each production stage - from planning to testing. The Zupanja plant is not only a production plant, but also an R&D centre dedicated especially to combines.
And this is why the plant is considered to be an example of great value for the Croatian territory, which is still experiencing a difficult situation after the war.
“The SAME DEUTZ-FAHR Žetelice plant is of great strategic value for Croatia,” comments Ivo Josipović, President of the Republic of Croatia. “Not only from the employment point of view, but above all, because SAME DEUTZ-FAHR has brought to our country the most evolved technologies of agricultural mechanisation, contributing at the same time to the creation of highly specialised technological knowledge.”
On the strength of these results, the SAME DEUTZ-FAHR Group considered it was important to share the success of the plant with Croatian authorities, a success rooted in Croatia that now allows the production of one of the most advanced technologies in the harvesting segment – one which is appreciated and recognised in all European countries.
The meeting at Žetelice also confirmed agreements regarding the presence of the
DEUTZ-FAHR brand as sponsor of the 59° Ploughing World Championship, which will take place in Biograd na Moru from 7th to 16th September 2012.
